Supplication for Inauguration

“Supplication for Inauguration”

1 Timothy 2:1-2 - “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” I’m sure that most of Americans are, at least, interested in the more recent election of President Barak Obama. Those who voted for him most likely are filled with hopeful expectation; and those who didn’t, with apprehension and concern. However, I appeal to democrats and republicans alike, and liberals and conservatives as well; our posture should not be one of partisan politics but that of perpetual prayer. The exhortation of the Epistle is that prayer be made for those who are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life. It is apparent to all humanity that society is filled with clamor, violence, natural disaster, economic deprivation, and insecurity. It is only the Prince of Peace and the prayers of the righteous that will guide any President towards governing with godliness. I admonish all believers, amid celebrations, galas, balls, and parades, to humble themselves and pray, seek god’s face and turn from wickedness. God promises to heal our land. May God lead, guide, protect, and protect President Barak Obama.
